Description

The Rin Gong is an inverted bell, made to be sounded on it’s edge at the beginning of meditations or during prayer. This bowl is a favorite of Buddhists and others who practice zen meditative disciplines. It is used to clear and still the mind’s chatter and calm your energy. These bowls are traditionally used in Japanese temples across the world.

Smaller Temple Bowl Gongs will reveal higher notes than larger ones. The larger the bowl, the deeper the note, the more overtones and the longer the sustain. Larger bowls are great for group meditations. Depending on where you sit in relation to a bowl, and how it is played, you can hear different frequencies.

Most Temple Bowls can be played similar to a singing bowl, by rubbing a mallet around the rim, or using a mallet to strike the side to get a more specific note. The sound from these types of bowls are smooth and very relaxing with no shrill overtones, the warm oscillating tone goes on and on.

This Temple Bowl Gong, also known as the Black Ching Bowl is a bronze machine made bowl with tightly spaced precise hammered marks. This bowl has a beautiful glossy black patina surface inside and out, with a bright golden rim. This bowl includes a cushion and a rubber covered wood tool.

We are among the first companies to bring this type of bowl to the West.
